Southampton have agreed a fee around £12m with Hull City for Irish striker Shane Long. The 27-year-old prolific forward joined Hull from West Brom in January, and scored four goals in 15 appearances for the Tigers. Long is set to become Saints’ sixth signing this summer.
Southampton have already signed keeper Fraser Forster, defender Ryan Bertrand, midfielders Dusan Tadic and Saphir Taider, and striker Graziano Pelle. They have also sold five players this summer: striker Rickie Lambert, midfielder Adam Lallana and defender Dejan Lovren all moved to Liverpool, left-back Luke Shaw has joined Manchester United, right-back Calum Chambers was sold to Arsenal and forward Dani Osvaldo has left for Inter Milan on loan.
Hull had signed Long, who has scored 11 goals in 47 caps for the Republic of Irelan, in a deal worth up to £7m in January. The striker will have to complete a medical and then agree personal terms with Southampton.
