British number one Andy Murray has slipped out of the world’s top 10 for the first time since 2008, he was replaced Marin Cilic after the Croatian achieved an unlikely victory at the US Open. Murray is now ranked 11th, so he will have to work hard to secure one of the eight spots available for the World Tour Finals in London in November.

Murray has a pretty big number of points to make up on Tomas Berdych, who occupies the final qualifying position. The Scot was knocked out in the quarter-finals at the US Open by world number one Novak Djokovic. He will play three more tournaments before London, so he will need to reach the final either in Shanghai or Paris in order to have a chance of qualifying.

Murray was third in the world rankings when he had to undergo back surgery in September 2013, two months after winning Wimbledon. Since the operation Murray has not been able to beat any top 10 player before the win against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the fourth round at the US Open. The Scot managed to reach the last eight at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season and the last four at the French Open.

Andy Murray is 11/2 at Bet365 to win the first Grand Slam in 2015, the Australian Open.
