One of the biggest clashes of the Champions League group stage will take place in Munich on Wednesday when German champions Bayern will face English champions Manchester City. The Citizens have lost 2-0 in Munich back in 2011 but they did beat Bayern 3-2 at the Allianz Arena last season and qualified for the knockout stages as runners-up to Bayern.
City will have to do without Pablo Zabaleta, who is suspended, and his place will most likely be taken by Bacary Sagna. Manuel Pellegrini won’t be able to influence the game from the touchline as he is serving a ban for comments made after the match against Barcelona last season.
Bayern will play without quite a few injured players: Holger Badstuber, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara and Rafinha. Arjen Robben could play if he overcomes a slight knee problem.
Probable starting line-ups:
Bayern: Neuer – Bernat, Boateng, Benatia, Alaba – Lahm, Alonso – Muller, Gotze, Ribery – Lewandowski
Man City: Hart – Sagna, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov – Fernandinho, Toure, Milner – Silva, Nasri – Aguero
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
