A few Manchester United players should discover later this week if they have a future at Old Trafford under new boss Luis van Gaal. The Dutch manager said he plans to sit down with his squad members on their return from the United States tournament and inform them of their fate.
The future of quite a few players is in doubt, including Javier Hernandez, Shinji Kagawa, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini and Anderson. The manager said: “I shall make judgements after the tour. I have let all the players play so I know now more than I did before. But in football, you have to judge. Always, you have to give a chance to a player to make a transfer when you see that his perspective is not so high to play. You have to say it in advance. When you say it on August 31st, it’s too late. I shall say to the players what I think after the tour.”
Manchester United will face Liverpool in Miami to conclude their American tour. Van Gaal has won league titles in Spain, Holland and Germany so he is confident of doing the same in England. “That’s why I’m here,” he said. “If I win one here, we will all be happy.”
Reports claim Van Gaal is looking for a new midfielder and one of the top choices would be Arturo Vidal from Juventus. Here are the odds at SkyBet for a Vidal transfer this summer:
Manchester Utd – 1/10
Bayern Munich – 14/1
Liverpool – 14/1
Real Madrid – 22/1
Arsenal – 25/1
