Oliver Weis entered the final 6-max table holding 48% of the chips in play. However, his victory wasn’t an easy one: the heads-up lasted for 4 hours. Here’s how the actions unfolded.

Anton Wigg finishes 6th
Anton Wigg had a chance to become the fourth player in EPT history to win two EPT Main Events. Only Victoria Coren Mitchell, Mikalai Pobal, and Michael Watson have accomplished this. Wigg was 23 years old when he won the 2010 EPT Copenhagen Main Event ($672.8K), which remains his best cash to date.
But this time, it didn’t happen.
At the start of the hand, Wigg had 31 bb and Tsouloftas had 29 bb. Tsouloftas completed from SB with Q 10 , and Wigg raised to 2.75 bb with A J . Tsouloftas jamed, and Wigg called. The Q hit the flop, and there was no ace on the board. Wigg was left with 2 bb, managed a few double-ups, but eventually lost in a classic coin-flip with TT vs Shalamov’s AKo for a 33 bb pot as an ace appeared on the flop.
Bobby James finishes 5th
Bobby James only started playing tournaments with a $1K buy-in or higher in 2024. This was his second EPT Main Event appearance. Before that, he had been grinding MTSNGs with 180 players online.
At the final table, Bobby James went card dead. In his final hand with a 15 bb stack, he opened for 11.3 bb from CO with K Q , but Tsouloftas re-raised from SB with A J . No kings or queens showed up on the board.
Overall, EPT Cyprus was successful for Bobby James. He won the $1K 8-Game side event ($11.2K) and finished 12th in the $2K Eureka High Roller ($24.9K).
Andriy Lyubovetskiy finishes 4th
In the 4-max, Andriy Lyubovetskiy was the shortest stack with 19.2 bb, while Oliver Weis was the chip leader. Weis was playing aggressively with almost any two cards.
Pre-flop, Weis opened from the CO, and Lyubovetskiy defended his BB. On the board 10 5 4 7 2 , both checked the flop, Lyubovetskiy check-called 3.6 bb on the turn, and check-called all-in on the river, but burned through 5 time-bank cards beforehand.
Mikhail Shalamov finishes 3rd
Mikhail Shalamov came to Cyprus to create content for PokerOK (note: GGPoker skin, whose ambassador is Mikhail Shalamov), but ended up at the final table of the Main Event. Shalamov has been playing poker for 15 years, mainly cash games. He started his career by receiving a free $50 bonus and has never made a deposit.
In his final hand, Shalamov went all-in for 26 bb with A 7 against Tsouloftas’ A 10 .
Georgios Tsouloftas finishes 2nd
In the heads-up, Georgios Tsouloftas entered with a stack of 145 bb versus Oliver Weis’ 47 bb. The one-on-one battle lasted over 4 hours. Tsouloftas extended his lead to 5-to-1, but Weis made a comeback.
In the final hand, Tsouloftas went all-in with 14.4 bb holding K 2 , and Weis called with Q 7 .
